Alumna Dr Linden Ashcroft awarded 2018 Moran Award
Dr Linden Ashcroft, PhD graduate from the School of Earth Sciences and climatologist at the Bureau of Meteorology has been jointly awarded the 2018 Moran Award for History of Science Research from the Australian Academy of Science.
The Moran award is granted to postgraduate students and researchers to support studies in the history of science in Australia.
Dr Ashcroft aims to explore the motivations behind New South Wales’ earliest weather observers prior to the establishment of the Bureau of Meteorology in 1908. Examining historic datasets will help determine their scientific value and improve our understanding of long term natural and human-induced climate change.
