About

William Charles Kernot, BA, MA, MCE (Melb.), first professor of Engineering at the university, donated an amount in 1887 for the purpose of founding scholarships for the encouragement of the study of Physics and Chemistry. In 1908, William Charles Kernot donated a further amount for the encouragement of the study of Geology. In 2009, a supplementary donation was made from a bequest by Roderick James Esdaile, BSc (Melb.), PhD (Glasgow). There are three scholarships, one each in Chemistry, Physics and Earth Sciences.
