About

The George Lansell Memorial Scholarship was established through funds donated in 1907 by Mrs Edith Lansell in commemoration of her late husband, George Lansell, who was a mining pioneer and largely responsible for introducing the diamond drill to quartz mining in Australia. George was famous in his hometown of Bendigo for his tireless efforts to maintain the mining industry to provide employment and was a strong supporter of local charities.

Conditions

This scholarship is open to both Engineering and Science students undertaking a higher degree by research (either research masters or PhD) in a field related to mining and metallurgy. The preference is for scholarship to be awarded to assist in the funding of field work, however it could also be granted as a living stipend.
