In the wills of William Alan Schuster and his wife Norma Hilda Schuster, a bequest was left to the University to establish a perpetual trust called The Norma Hilda Schuster (nee Swift) Scholarship fund, to support the Norma Hilda Schuster (nee Swift) Scholarships. Scholarships will be open for competition among students ENROLLED IN THE FACULTY OF SCIENCE and undertaking undergraduate study or graduate research which is significantly aligned to the field of biochemistry.
The scholarships support students enrolled in the Faculty of Science and who are undertaking undergraduate studies (BSc Hons) or graduate research which is significantly aligned to the field of biochemistry. Graduate research students must have been confirmed to be eligible. BSc(Hons) or MSc candidates progressing to graduate research must wait until they have been confirmed before they are eligible to re-apply. Applicants should check specific criteria on the application form.
The duration of each scholarship is one year. Scholarship holders are eligible to re-apply for a further scholarship year if they remain eligible. Graduate research dgree candidates must have been confirmed to be eligible for the award. Biochemistry: the study of the structure and function of components of living cells, focusing on understanding at the molecular level the biological processes that enable living things to survive and thrive. Biochemistry focuses on the relationships of molecular structure and function, the flow of chemical energy in metabolism and the molecular processes that regulate cell and tissue behaviour.
Scholarships are awarded by the Dean of the Faculty of Science on the recommendation of a selection committee. Applications must be lodged on or before 31 January each year. Apply Now
