Training

Access resources to help you with your studies and wellbeing, and learn how the University expects its students and staff to conduct themselves in their relationships with others.

Faculty-based training

The dates for all three training sessions will be communicated with staff as session times become available.

  • Decolonisation Session

A key priority of our Indigenous Strategic Plan is learning and unlearning. One barrier to the development of a healthy culture within an institution is a lack of awareness of our assumptions and biases. Without a true interrogation of ourselves, we are blind to this, and decrease our ability to deliver the cultural shift required to break down prohibitive barriers

  • Trans and Gender 101 Training

An introduction to gender diversity, differentiation, orientation, interest, status, gender identity and expression. This session will highlight the key areas of disadvantage for trans and gender-diverse people.

  • Knowledge sharing through networking

Join us in 2023 for Knowledge through networking events as we build our belonging through relationship building.

University-based training for staff

The University has a moral and ethical imperative to provide a safe, fair and enriching environment and offers a number of training resources.

  • Unconscious Bias

Unconscious biases are hidden beliefs, attitudes, and biases beyond our regular perceptions of ourselves and others that underlie a great deal of our patterns of behaviour about diversity.

Have you ever considered that you may be prejudiced and wondered what your unconscious bias’ may be? Start by testing your own implicit bias and check out these enlightening TED talks on recognizing and combating unconscious bias and ways to outsmart your own bias.

Staff can also access a 20-minute online TrainME course on managing Unconscious Bias, to help employees recognise and deal with their own unconscious biases so that they don’t influence their behaviours and decisions at work.
