Professor Jörg Wrachtrup is widely recognised as the ‘father’ of diamond quantum science. He was the first to recognize that diamond could be used as a platform for the exploitation of quantum effects under ambient conditions. His laboratory at the University of Stuttgart has become the central hub for researchers worldwide in efforts to understand both the fundamentals and the possible applications of this technology in engineering, biology and medicine.
