I have always been passionate about animal conservation and zoology, and biology was my best and favourite subject in high school, so I decided to do Science and see where it would lead. My sister had finished her Bachelor of Science at Melbourne just before I started and I heard very positive things about her experience. I wanted to go to a university where I would be challenged and my peers would have the same academically-oriented mindset as I have.

The Bachelor of Science is broad enough that you'll be able to explore the different fields and find exactly what it is you are really passionate about. You don't have to decide on a major right away and this gives you the time to explore what scientific fields you really enjoy. Breadth subjects are also a really good way to gain skills that are outside your field of study.

Studying at Melbourne has meant a lot of hard work. When I look back at my studies so far I feel a great sense of achievement. Coming from a very small school to such a big university was overwhelming at first and left me a little out of my comfort zone, but it was good for me. I made a lot of new friends, and all the staff are very supportive and helpful. I have become a lot more independent now after starting uni, and I feel more and more equipped for the future every day.
