"I'm always interested in learning how to create smart and innovative solutions to global challenges in various fields such as energy, transport, and healthcare."

Why did you choose the University of Melbourne?

I chose to study at the University of Melbourne because the members of teaching staff are internationally renowned researchers and industry leaders. Many are distinguished fellows of international societies, and some of them are even Nobel laureates. Secondly, the University of Melbourne embraces high-achievers from all over the world. It is a truly international society where, regardless of your nationality, you can engage and look out for new experiences and grow as a human being as well as a student.

Prior to attending the University of Melbourne, I went to an international school, where I learned the language and diverse cultures from different parts of the globe, so moving to study as an international student was a natural choice for me. I was mesmerized by its consistent output to society in research, teaching, and engagement and its multicultural environment. When I first moved to Melbourne, I was alone but this loneliness soon faded as I joined classes and events in the university.

What inspires you about studying science and engineering?

I'm always interested in learning how to create smart and innovative solutions to global challenges in various fields such as energy, transport, and healthcare. It has been a lifelong dream to design, construct, and operate mechanical products including engines, cars, robots, and much more.

What has been your favourite experience as a student?

My favourite experience as a science student at the University of Melbourne is whenever I go to professors or tutors and ask about anything that I do not know or want to know more about and they are always willing to help. Because I am always curious about what I am currently studying, I look out to the opportunities to talk to those who are more knowledgeable about the field and I sincerely cherish those moments because I know they allow me to grow as a student.

I’m also participating in the Melbourne Peer Mentor Program and it is a wonderful opportunity for me to help first year undergraduate students transition into studying at the University. Through this program, I've been able to strengthen professional attributes like leadership, cross-cultural communication, teamwork and facilitation skills.
