"I think it's very cool how engineers apply science to projects, especially within civil and structural engineering, you see breathtaking buildings that are all just a creative application of science."

Why did you choose the University of Melbourne?

I wanted to study structural engineering and University of Melbourne was one of the only Universities that offered that specialisation. Being able to explore other subjects at the undergraduate level, was also an incentive as I was able to study business law and feminist philosophy and explore other interests alongside my science subjects.

Access Melbourne helped give me the time to focus more on my studies and uni life rather than taking up paid work, which really encouraged me to do my best and to know that I had support as a student. I’ve found it very rewarding to meet like-minded people while I’ve been studying. As you progress through your course, you meet people who are interested in the same things as you and it’s great!

What inspires you about engineering?

What advice would you give someone thinking of studying science or engineering?

If you love science, the Bachelor of Science is for you. If you know what major you want to study – great! If you don’t - even better. Take this as a chance to explore all you can do with science and never hesitate to do what you love.
