Most of the concepts and models I work with are motivated by real-life problems and use of the deep and interesting theory, probability and statistics, which plays a crucial role in the current data-driven era.

Throughout my Master of Science (Mathematics and Statistics), I’ve definitely become much more interested in this field of research.

The School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Melbourne is highly regarded around the world. The coursework quality is excellent and it provides invaluable opportunities to conduct academic research. The most exciting experience during my current program is the excellent teaching quality. Students are taught the necessary mathematics as well as the beautiful intuitions and insights behind the concepts.

The graduate study of Mathematics and Statistics is challenging. You are required to take a number of fantastic, but advanced subjects in your study area and conduct a three-semester length research project. For most of the students, this is the first time for them to do a project like this individually under professional supervision. In my opinion, the most challenging part is neither the coursework study nor the research itself, but the time management skills, which play such a crucial role in graduate study. Remember, at this level, nobody will guide you to do things step by step, so it is important to keep self-motivated all the time.

While studying, I’ve received the Science Graduate Scholarship, giving me strong confidence in my current study and motivating me to pursue higher achievement in my future study.
