Bioengineering Systems

Advice on how to plan your exchange within the Bachelor of Science

Optimal exchange dates: Year 2: Semester 1 or Semester 2

Planning your exchange:

Semester 2: Semester 2 is the easiest semester to go on exchange when pursuing the Bioengineering Systems major in the BSc. Students should enrol in BMEN20001 Biomechanical Physics & Computation and MAST20029 Engineering Mathematics in Semester 1 of Year 2 and can then take a selection of Science Electives/Breadth subjects at the exchange institution in Semester 2.

Semester 1: MAST20029 Engineering Mathematics, ENGR20004 Engineering Mechanics and COMP20005 Engineering Computation are all applicable level 2 prerequisites for the Bioengineering Systems major and are available at UoM in Semester 2. If students wished to go on exchange in Semester 1 of Year 2 they could therefore take a selection of Science Electives/Breadth subjects at the exchange institution during Semester 1 and upon their return to UoM ensure they enrol in the above-mentioned subjects.

Things to consider: The Faculty of Science has mapped several Level 2 Bioengineering pre-requisite subjects at partner institutions. Where possible it is recommended that students attempt to enrol in at least one of these subjects at the host institution during their time abroad.

Mapped subjects for the Bioengineering Systems major include:
