Advice on how to plan your exchange within the Bachelor of Science
Planning your exchange: It is simplest to go on exchange in Semester 1 of Year 2 as there is more flexibility with subject availability. Students should attempt to find an equivalent to at least one of the above listed subjects at the host institution. Please note that if students take exchange in Semester 2 of Year 2, they must find an equivalent to ENGR20003 Engineering Materials, as this subject is only available in Semester 2 at UoM.
Things to consider: The Faculty of Science has mapped several Level 2 Civil Engineering pre-requisite subjects at different partner institutions.
Mapped subjects for the Civil Systems major include:
|University of Melbourne subject||Partner institution||Equivalent subject||Notes|
|MAST20029 Engineering Mathematics||University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign||Intro differential equations MATH 285 AND Calculus III MATH 241|
|MAST20029 Engineering Mathematics||University College London||Modelling and Analysis, ENGF0004|
|ENGR20004 Engineering Mechanics||Delft University of Technology||Engineering Mechanics, AE1130|
|ENGR20004 Engineering Mechanics||University of Maryland||ENES102 Mechanics 1|
|ENGR20004 Engineering Mechanics||Pennsylvania State University||Statistics and Strength of Materials, EMCH 210|
|ENGR20003 Engineering Materials||University of Maryland||ENCE300 Fundamentals of Engineering Materials|
