Advice on how to plan your exchange within the Bachelor of Science
Optimal exchange dates: Year 2: Semester 2
Planning your exchange: Semester 2 of Year 2 is the most flexible time to take exchange when pursuing the Geology major. GEOL20004 Field Mapping and Sedimentary Geology is the only Level 2 pre-requisite subject required in this semester.
Things to consider: The Faculty of Science has mapped multiple subjects at partner institutions equivalent to GEOL20004 Field Mapping and Sedimentary Geology. However, students should review all study plans to see what options are available in this area. This list of study plans, and equivalent subjects is not exhaustive and should in no way preclude students from reviewing other options at partner institutions.
Mapped subjects for the Geology major include:
|University of Melbourne subject||Partner institution||Equivalent subject||Notes|
|GEOL30002 Tectonics & Geodynamics||University of Edinburgh||Structural Analysis of Rocks and Regions EASC09052|
|GEOL20004 Field Mapping and Sedimentary Geology||University of Auckland||EARTHSCI 260 Field Studies in Earth Surface Processes AND EARTHSCI 315 Field and Laboratory Geology Skills (must take both)|
|GEOL20004 Field Mapping and Sedimentary Geology||University of Glasgow||EARTH3010 The Geology of Scotland – Earth Science International Summer School|
|GEOL20004 Field Mapping and Sedimentary Geology||University of Iceland||The Arctic Circle, UAU018M AND Sedimentology and Sedimentary Rocks, JAR308G||Students must take both subjects to be considered equivalent to GEOL20004|
