Scholarship applications for selected Agriculture and Melbourne Veterinary School courses

We've created a simple process for accessing some of the scholarships offered by the School of Agriculture and Melbourne Veterinary School – you only need to make a single application to be considered for each scholarship that you're eligible for.

A simplified process

While students are automatically considered for many scholarships, some of them require you to make an application. If you are studying one of the following courses, one application will see you considered for all scholarships that you're eligible for:

  • B-AGR - Bachelor of Agriculture
  • D-GENST - Diploma in General Studies
  • MC-AGSC - Master of Agricultural Sciences
  • BH-SCI -Veterinary, Food Science, Nutrition, Animal Science and Agriculture-related streams in the Bachelor of Science (Honours)
  • BH-AGR - Bachelor of Agriculture (Honours)

When you're visiting the Scholarships at Melbourne website, applicable scholarships will say if they're part of this program.

Making your application

The scholarship application form does not require you to nominate which scholarships you wish to be considered for, but you do need to ensure you provide all the necessary information as part of your application:

  • Check that you are eligible. Read through each scholarship’s information carefully to make sure you meet the criteria
  • Make a list of scholarships you are qualified to apply for and note what the requirements are
  • Note what supporting documents you need to provide for each one
  • Read and follow these instructions
  • When submitting your application please ensure you provide all of the requirements for any of the scholarships you have identified you are eligible for
  • If you are applying for awards based on financial need, you need to submit a separate application
  • Please ensure your name and student ID are on any supporting documentation submitted.

Please note: you will only be considered for awards that require applications if you submit an application.

Other things you need to know

Selection committees

Scholarships are determined by two sub-committees:

  • School of Agriculture and Food sub-committee
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine sub-committee

Monetary value of scholarships

  • The number of scholarships/bursaries awarded each year and the value of each award will be determined by the Dean. The value of scholarships can change from year to year. For example if a scholarship is valued at $5000 in 2023, the same scholarship may only be worth $2000 in 2024.
  • If you are a recipient of a scholarship that is for the standard duration of your course, the value of that scholarship in the year it commences is what you receive. If the scholarship value changes the following year for new recipients, this will not affect the value of your scholarship.
  • Please note amounts advertised can change at any given time. Whilst every effort is made to indicate the value of an award in any given year, these are only an indication.
  • If you receive an award, the value will be listed in the notification you receive.

Recipient responsibilities

If you receive an award/bursary/scholarship, you will be expected to:

  • Maintain good academic standing (where appropriate)
  • Meet any specific requirements of the award you receive, including reporting back to the Faculty/Donor when required.
  • Complete a yearly report and if required an impact statement
  • Complete the award acceptance form
