Viraj Patel

Viraj is a Master of Science (Bioinformatics) student with a deep passion for youth service and community building. He is a committed advocate for student representation, having served as the 2025 UMSU Education (Public Affairs) Office Bearer, a student representative on the Selection Procedures Committee(2025), and a member of the 2023 UMSU Queer Committee. Throughout their university experience, has served as President of two student clubs, Rotaract Club(2024) and Asia-Pacific Development Initiative(2025) and currently serve as Treasurer for Amnesty International University Chapter. They have a passion for co-designing education with students by bringing students to the decision-making table. As an SSRC member, Viraj aims to ensure that diverse perspectives are represented and heard, contributing to equitable University processes for students.
