The Diversity and Inclusion Committee

The Faculty of Science’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee and each of its schools’ committees bring together staff and students to identify, discuss, advise on and progress issues and initiatives related to a providing diverse and inclusive environment.

Our approach to diversity and inclusion for both staff and students is guided by the principles outlined in the University of Melbourne’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy (2030).

Our committees

  • School Committees
  • PhD/MSc Reference Committee 

    This group will provide a central point of consultation for Faculty leadership on issues impacting students and graduate researchers with a focus on equity, inclusion and learning outcomes.

    The Faculty of Science Graduate Coursework Student and Graduate Researcher Reference Committee will be led and chaired by the Associate Dean (Diversity & Inclusion) with the Deputy Chair to be the Associate Dean (Graduate Programs) or nominee.

  • LGBTQI+ Reference Committee

    The LGBTIQ+ Reference Group will be chaired by a representative chosen from among the committee.  Membership will strive to be inclusive of all cohorts within the university, including students, academic staff including both fixed term and continuing as well as professional staff. Committee members will self-nominate to be part of this committee for a period of one year.

  • Culturally Diverse and Linguistically Diverse Reference Group (CDLD)

    The Culturally Diverse and Linguistically Diverse Reference Group will be chaired by a representative chosen from among the committee.

    Membership will strive to be inclusive of all cohorts within the university, including students,  academic staff including both fixed-term and continuing as well as professional staff. Committee members will self-nominate to be part of the committee for a period of one year
