Professor Ary Hoffmann

Election to the Academy recognises scientists whose work has had a sustained and outstanding impact on their field. International Members are elected by existing Academy members, with only a small number selected globally each year.

Founded in 1863, the National Academy of Sciences is one of the world’s most prestigious scientific institutions. Election is widely regarded as one of the highest honours a scientist can achieve, recognising distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

Professor Hoffmann is internationally recognised for his work in ecological genetics, including research on environmental stress adaptation, climate change resilience, and pest and disease control.

He is one of 25 International Members elected in 2026.
