Inaugural Bachelor of Science dual degree and teaching hub established at Shoolini University
Dean of Science, Professor Moira O’Bryan and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global, Culture and Engagement), Professor Michael Wesley have warmly welcomed the inaugural cohort of the Bachelor of Science (BSc) Advanced (Honours) dual degree at Shoolini University in India.

The 10 commencing students received an inspiring address by Professor O’Bryan, who emphasised the significance of this cohort and the innovative curriculum they will undertake.
The four-year program follows a 2+2-year model, where students undertake two years of a general science curriculum at Shoolini University, before transferring to the University of Melbourne to undertake a further two years of speciality study.
The program promises exceptional training across a broad and deep science curriculum, combined with international experience and networking opportunities in Australia.
“This pioneering curriculum represents a new standard for excellence in science education, offering our students rigorous academic foundation that will open up outstanding career opportunities,” Professor O’Bryan said.
“To our commencing students, I wish you the heartiest congratulations. Studying science is a great privilege and a great joy. Though the time spent at university is relatively short, the impact is lifelong, and it sets a trajectory for success by many measures.”

Shoolini University is the first institution in the world to offer and enrol students in the BSc Advanced (Honours) dual degree.
During the visit, Professor Welsey also opened the Shoolini-Melbourne Teaching and Learning Hub.
The state-of-the-art facility will serve as a dedicated space for the BSc Advanced (Honours) students to engage in their studies and projects.
Professor Wesley said he was delighted to visit Shoolini University and deepen this strong partnership.
“The collaboration between Shoolini University and the University of Melbourne aims to enrich the educational landscape of both nations,” Professor Wesley said.
“With this partnership we are fostering the next generation of scientists poised to excel in a globalised world. It was my pleasure to meet our inaugural cohort of dual degree students who will start their learning in the newest building on campus.”

Professor O’Bryan thanked Shoolini University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Atul Khosla, whose vision and drive have been instrumental in realising the dual degree program.
