Indian Council of Agricultural Research and University of Melbourne forge partnership to advance agricultural research
Following two years of collaborative discussions, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the University of Melbourne Faculty of Science have finalised a strategic partnership through a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
ICAR, India’s premier institution dedicated to agriculture-related research, education, and development, stands as a pivotal force in the nation’s agricultural sector.
With a network of 113 research institutes and 77 agricultural universities, ICAR is recognised as one of the largest and most influential agricultural systems in the world.
The collaboration is expected to generate new opportunities for scientific enquiry and academic exchange, encourage interdisciplinary cooperation, and produce impactful solutions to pressing agricultural issues.
Faculty of Science Dean, Professor Moira O’Bryan, visited the National Agricultural Science Complex in Delhi to finalise the agreement.
“This agreement represents a significant step in advancing agricultural research and innovation across India and Australia, two of the world’s foremost agricultural producers,” Professor O’Bryan said.
“We are eager to collaborate with ICAR on groundbreaking projects that will address critical agricultural challenges and benefit both our nations and the global community.”

ICAR is renowned for its cutting-edge approach to science and technology, and its scientists have earned international acclaim for their groundbreaking contributions across various agricultural fields, including horticulture, fisheries, and animal sciences.
