While you are studying with us, why not take advantage of the many opportunities available for you to get involved with programs that will extend your learning opportunities, connect you to communities, and enhance your employability? Some options are listed below.
In2science - peer mentoring in schools
Are you passionate about science, technology, engineering & maths (STEM)?
In2science places university science, technology, engineering and maths students as volunteer mentors in year 7 - 10 classes at low socioeconomic schools. Mentors work as role models to encourage high school students to relate science and maths to their real lives and interests.
As a mentor, you will develop your communication & organization skills, enhance your resume, get a taste for the science/maths classroom, and encourage the next generation of STEM students!
The Science Experience
Every January, year 9-10 students experience life as a University of Melbourne STEM student with lectures, lab experiments, and hands-on experiences run by top-ranking academics.
As a Science Experience volunteer, you will help coordinate the program, act as tour guides, STEM role models, and get to take part in the amazing activities while being a friendly, welcoming face for all the participants.
Science Roadshow
Science Delivery is a hands-on opportunity to share your passion for science with high school students across Victoria.
You will be trained to present exciting shows, interactive workshops and share your science story to encourage school students to continue their science journey.
Science Student Peer Mentors
As a mentor with the Melbourne Peer Mentor Program, you will play an important role in helping new students transition to life at the University of Melbourne. Become a Faculty of Science Peer Mentor and gain leadership skills by sharing your experiences with your mentees.
Science Student Ambassadors
Do you want to gain invaluable skills, boost your resume and build your social and professional networks? The Faculty’s Student Ambassador Program gives you the opportunity to do all of this while making a positive impact on your student community.
Data Science Peer-to-Peer Mentoring
Are you completing the Master of Data Science program? You can be a part of the Data Science peer-to-peer mentoring program, as either a Mentor, or a Mentee.
