Making changes to your course
You may need to make changes to your course (known as candidature variations) such as taking leave or studying abroad. They require approval by your principal supervisor or advisory committee chair and in some cases require further approval from the Head of School and/or Academic Registrar. Find out more below.
Managing difficulties during your studies
Your faculty and school will give you guidance throughout your candidature and examination, and the University has a number of resources available to help you find solutions to problems and seek support that may be needed.

Taking leave
If your research is temporarily hindered by circumstances, including personal sickness, attending to family responsibilities, or having a role as a carer, you can apply for a leave of absence.

Add an internship to your degree
PhD candidates have the opportunity to undertake an internship following the submission of their thesis.
